Galileo Pupil Council 2025-26

This year’s Galileo Pupil Council had its inaugural meeting this week (23 September 2025), chaired by our CEO Jane Spence, we were once again blown away by the creativity and ideas being shared by the pupils – this promises to be an interesting and exciting year!
The Pupil Council will provide updates throughout the year to share with the whole Galileo community. We will first be carrying out a poll of all Galileo children (almost 3000!) to democratically decide the most popular cross-school events – previous years have included an art competition, a rounders tournament, a bake-off and…..we always have football!
An important part of the Pupil Council’s work is to make sure that we are doing everything we can to look after our planet. Schools use lots of energy, so we will be once again running our ‘Big Switch-off’ competition working with Redcar and Cleveland Council. It is a whole school effort to reduce energy consumption in a variety of ways – previous winners are Lakes and John E Batty primary schools. We look forward to crowning our next energy champion school at the end of the year.
